The 86 million 521 thousand and 200 (set) fell by 35.96% compared with the same period last year, and exports amounted to $447 million, down 5.52% from the same period last year.
The top five export markets were the United States, Hongkong, Japan, Italy and Spain, of which only Spain increased by 18.26% compared to the same period last year, while the remaining four markets fell by 12.8%, 2.72%, 8.7% and 17.75% respectively.
The top five provinces and cities in export volume were Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Sichuan, of which Sichuan's exports increased by 72% compared with the same period last year, while the exports of other four provinces and cities decreased by 14.02%, 18.34%, 4.64% and 8.89% respectively.
In May, China's silk garments exported 23 million 359 thousand pieces (sets), a year-on-year decrease of 61.12%, an increase of 37.39% compared to the same period, with an export volume of US $99 million 566 thousand, up 11.83% from the same period last year, rising by 27.53% over the same period.
